Student campaign proven valuable: video by student and trainee conductor Jurjen Daemen
When I saw the NOBCO's call last year to take part in the special student campaign in collaboration with universities of applied sciences, I signed up straight away. The campaign concerns students who, because of the isolation caused by the pandemic, could and can receive brief support.
Student and trainee conductor Jurjen Daemen recorded this video, at our request, with his own powerful message to encourage other students to take this step. Thank you once again, Jurjen!
'I would ideally still speak to Valérie every week, because the process is longer than the three sessions.*
'On top of that I laughed a lot with her, which I experienced as very powerful myself, because you are after all mainly talking about problems'.
'I would encourage all students to have a conversation with a coach, because you [...] gain new insights about yourself'.
I myself have a studying son of 22, and I see that this generation has a lot on its plate. They are in a vulnerable phase and in a transition to an adult life with responsibilities and uncertainties, but this generation experiences even more pressure. Attention for performance pressure, choice stress, but above all being allowed to get to know yourself and to be yourself, remains important.
Jurjen Daemen recorded the video for the NOBCO new year's reception, where there was also attention for Mind You. The NOBCO does not, incidentally, reimburse for this.* The coaches who are willing do this at the rate of € 10 per hour.
Thank you Geeske te Gussinklo for guiding the campaign on behalf of the Dutch Order of Professional Coaches (NOBCO).
