Vision
In my view, every person has the capacity to be great. I support people in becoming aware of their own talents, so as to discover that strength within themselves.
Every person is also responsible themselves. For what they do, but also for what they leave undone. That is not always easy. External guidance is therefore sometimes welcome.
Moreover, every person has the right to be who they are, and the wish to be recognised in that individuality. Through my way of coaching & supervising, I want to contribute to a world in which people see each other as they truly are.
About me
Do you dare to feel? For a long time I (also) lived in my head. Through loss and serious illness I began to listen to what my body had to tell me. When I started, some twenty years ago, to delve into 'emotional intelligence', it was still considered woolly. Now scientists (not only psychologists) are researching how emotions arise. My mission is to remove the taboo that surrounds emotions, feelings and the information they hold. We deal with them every day. The whole spectrum matters; only 'pursuing positive thoughts' can, in my view, even be harmful.
What others say about me: reviews.
Coaching hours and life experience I am ESIA-certified as a coach supervisor with EMCC. I work (inter)nationally; the working languages are Dutch and English. I have experience working with different cultures.
In 2006 I founded The Art of People. Six months later I was diagnosed with cancer. During the treatments of radio-, chemo-, immuno- and hormone therapy, I kept working, albeit much less. One of my life lessons is that too much willpower can have a downside too. Pausing regularly is not standing still. And: since creativity and innovation are very important to me, these also develop in 'active rest'. There is much to learn, and that gives hope and confidence.
What manager and management-team member Jan Rietbroek says:
'I came to Valérie after a tip from my employer. After years on the work floor, I was asked after the COVID period whether I was open to the role of Operational Manager within the company. Thanks to my experience in staff planning I did have an understanding of people, and I knew the company well, but really leading was new to me.
After a pleasant intake conversation it felt right immediately. Large group sessions appeal to me less, so the one-on-one coaching fitted perfectly with what I needed. I was always quite down-to-earth and mainly focused on the work, but through the conversations with Valérie and the outcomes of the various tests I have come to understand better what I feel. As a result I can also sense others better and respond accordingly. I have discovered where my strength lies, and also where I still want to grow. Valérie gave me practical, applicable tips for this.
I look back on an instructive and valuable journey — and would not rule out undertaking such a coaching journey again in the future

Sparring partner for executives
For 18 years I worked as an employee, including in management positions. Some examples: head of Communications/Marketing & Communications manager/management-team member at the world music festival Dunya, Nighttown, Luxor Theatre and Ahoy. But also in business and semi-governmental institutions such as Brunel and housing association De Nieuwe Unie. Through the communications profession and growing life experience, I came into contact with psychology and coaching. I became more interested in how we as people want to lead a quality, rich life. That we want to act with integrity towards ourselves and others. And... that this does not always succeed. This is not about the endless pursuit of happiness, but about learning to deal with your own shadow sides and insecurities. This in combination with a firmer use of your own talents, qualities and energy.

In a very focused way, we meet online at least six times a year in two-hour sessions. The approach is focused and has depth.
