From searching coach to confident professional (Dutch & English)
Supervision: deeper learning
As a coach, do you put in many more hours than you are paid for? Once you started enthusiastically because you wanted to guide people. Now doubt is growing: 'shouldn't I have confronted more firmly?' 'Is my client's development going fast enough?'
What do you do when a manager or an HR employee wants information about the content of your coaching conversations? When doubt takes over, it is important to pause and take stock.
As a coach you are already used to reflecting. But sometimes a thought or feeling lingers. Perhaps you already have peer consultation, but if you want to learn in an enjoyable and deeper way, there is also supervision. You receive personal attention from an experienced professional and fellow practitioner.
Supervision goes further than (however important) peer consultation. What you experience is that:
✅ your self-confidence grows, as a coach and as a person
✅ you regain your enjoyment of the coaching profession
✅ you set healthier professional boundaries
✅ you can reflect more deeply
✅ you recognise and apply ethical dilemmas sooner
✅ you gain insight into the parallel process
✅ 'help, the client has yet another coaching question': you learn how and when to re-contract
I do not believe in a single method (one size does not fit all). I have a backpack full of life experience and I am an experienced coach: since 2006! In addition, I have built up my hours as a manager, as a chair and as the coordinator of a peer consultation group.
Alongside my treasure chest of models and methods, I have a focus on emotional intelligence. This way we can go deeper so that your self-confidence grows and you regain enjoyment of your profession.
Coaching hours I am ESIA-certified as a coach supervisor with EMCC. I work (inter)nationally, working languages Dutch and English, and I have experience working with different cultures.
Did you know that supervision hours count towards your accreditation? (Do also check with your own professional association.)
I think it is important to get to know each other first. This way we can align well and explore your supervision question. Together we then discuss what is suitable for you. After that I make you an offer.

✅ how to get out of (counter)transference and projection;
✅ daring to use your creativity and humour (yes, that is allowed);
✅ having energy left after the coaching conversation.

Reviews
'I recently had the pleasure of engaging in coaching supervision services provided by Valerie, and it has been a valuable experience. As a coach, I understand the significance of ongoing learning and development, and supervision as a requirement for a professional coaching practice. With this in mind Valerie support me to ensure I am continuing to develop my practice while meeting the requirements of professional coaching by acting with responsibility and accountability.
From the very first session, Valerie created a safe and supportive space allowed me to freely explore my coaching practice, reflect on my strengths, and identify areas for growth. Her deep understanding of coaching techniques and methodologies enabled her to provide insightful feedback and guidance. This has profoundly impacted my professional growth.
One aspect that truly stood out during the coaching supervision sessions was Valerie's exceptional listening skills. Her ability to actively listen, ask thought-provoking questions, and provide constructive feedback has helped me gain new perspectives which have been instrumental in enhancing my coaching skills and being even more effective as a coach who helps her clients to achieve the transformation they seek. Through a deep reflective practice i have grown as a coach and individual.
Valerie has demonstrated a genuine commitment to my success as a coach. She tailors each session to address my specific needs and growth while providing an environment that fostered both self-reflection and growth. I always felt that my time and investment were well-respected. I look forward to continuing my professional journey under their supervision.'
I recommend Valerie's coaching supervision services -

'Very pleasant supervision from Valerie, I can spar excellently with her! She listens well, asks sharp questions and gives good additions. She has helped me a few times already to better understand what was really happening in my coaching conversations and how I can work on it further. Exactly what I was looking for. Highly recommended.'

'You had good questions and a listening ear for my needs in the supervision relationship. I noticed that, throughout the journey, you followed me in the approach I wanted: room to reflect with feeling on what I brought in. That was valuable. I felt we had an effective contract: a working, safe relationship in which I could freely express my expectations
Working one-on-one with a supervisor who is there for me and my development is really different. I am more aware of a certain ethical dimension in my work as a coach: around whether or not to refer to professional help.

'Thank you for the supervision conversations we had and the insights they allowed me to gain. I can now dwell better on my feeling-emotion, without reasoning it away. I am more aware of how I relate to others. Where I give away space and can also take it by making different choices or setting boundaries. I have grown as a person and therefore also as a coach. The supervision keeps me sharp on my actions in practice. Thank you for walking part of the way with me.
Valérie has an extensive toolkit and a great deal of expertise. From theory she was able to support me with models and practical ideas, such as Covey's Circle of Influence, mind mapping and journaling.'
