Reliable & valid

HRM & talent development

What is reliable & valid? With tests developed through a scientific method, so with a control group, the outcomes are what they are. We will not distort them until we get the answers we want to hear. The context is, however, always considered in conversation with the coachee. Coaching is, after all, about how you develop towards a realistic goal. So the test is a valid aid.

MHS Model Talentassessment

Versatile

The EQ-i 2.0 was developed through an extensive process, giving it a structure that is reliable and broadly applicable. It can be used for personal development, but also for leadership development, careers, HRM, talent and team development. Versatile, then!

The EQ-i 2.0

Was originally developed in North America, but is now used all over the world. This applies to the structure of the test, the consistency and accuracy of the items (questions) and the results. In general, the EQ-i 2.0 has extensive evidence supporting its external validity:

  • It has been used to predict work performance
  • EQ-i 2.0 skills can be used to predict and improve leadership
  • The EQ-i 2.0 is based on evaluation research spanning decades
  • The EQ-i 2.0 correlates with similar emotional and social measures
  • The EQ-i 2.0 is now included in the Nineteenth Buros Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY), published in 2014 and widely regarded as an important marker of sound test development.
  • Reliability and validity are of great importance from a scientific perspective. But also in practical terms for your company, in order to integrate them effectively. The EQ-i 2.0 has proven reliable in measuring E.I. In the practice of The Art of People c&c too, it is a reliable instrument as a foundation for the development journey. It measures, often surprisingly to coachees, work performance, leadership competencies, well-being, stress management and intrapersonal skills with precision.

‘‘If you’re a leader and you want to mobilize your team, one of the first things you can do... is listen to them. Empathy is a critical skill to begin with for leaders because by listening to people and understanding where they’re coming from, you’ll have a better handle on how to motivate those people and what’s important to hem... That’s the first step in your ability to influence people, and influencing people is a critical skill for leaders’.Dr Steven Stein, CEO MHS
