HRM & talent development

Assess – predict – perform

How do you find the gems, in all shapes and sizes, for your organisation? Even more importantly: how do you keep them? These days, HR, boards and founders of scale-ups have their hands full finding the right people. Despite all the news, I still regularly see companies and organisations thinking with a twentieth-century mindset: no hybrid working, demanding presence, working weekends and evenings, and 36 hours not being acceptable in management roles either. Last week an owner said to me: 'I can't find them', and listed a number of his conditions and requirements. As if employees and managers don't open their laptop in the evening when it suits them.

So take another look at those ingrained requirements and build a 'workforce' (which sounds a little clinical) that stays motivated because you listen to them and can connect to align expectations. Developing emotional intelligence and the validated EQ-i 2.0 assessments can really help with this!

The pay-off of the EQ-i 2.0 is: Assess (measure), predict ('forecast', i.e. 'give direction') and perform ('achieve', i.e. 'realise'). With the Talent Assessments from MHS / Pearson Clinical & Talent Assessments, emotional intelligence is measured accurately. For each role, you and the coach look at which competencies need to be well developed.

The EQ-i 2.0 is a useful instrument for talent development within the organisation. Based on the assessment, you can explore in more depth the meaning and application of 'Empathy', 'Assertiveness', 'Stress management' and 'Optimism', for marketing talents for example. (Young) managers benefit greatly from a well-developed 'Reality testing', 'Optimism', 'Emotional self-awareness' and 'Emotional expression'. This validated EQ-i 2.0® is used worldwide, with applications for Leadership 360° feedback.

MHS Brief ROI

‘‘If you’re a leader and you want to mobilize your team, one of the first things you can do... is listen to them. Empathy is a critical skill to begin with for leaders because by listening to people and understanding where they’re coming from, you’ll have a better handle on how to motivate those people and what’s important to hem... That’s the first step in your ability to influence people, and influencing people is a critical skill for leaders’.Dr Steven Stein, CEO MHS
