Special student campaign proven valuable
Video by student Jurjen Daemen about his experience
When I saw the NOBCO's call last year for mental support of students through a special student campaign in collaboration with universities of applied sciences, I, as a certified coach, signed up straight away. The campaign concerns students who, because of the isolation caused by the pandemic, can receive brief support through coaching.
Student and trainee conductor Jurjen Daemen recorded this video, at our request, with his own powerful message, to encourage other students to take this step. Thank you once again, Jurjen!
'I would ideally still speak to Valérie every week, because the process is longer than the three sessions.*
'On top of that I laughed a lot with her, which I experienced as very powerful myself, because you are after all mainly talking about problems'.
'I would encourage all students to have a conversation with a coach, because you [...] gain new insights about yourself'.
I myself have a studying son of 22, and I see that this generation has a lot on its plate. They are in a vulnerable phase. Besides the transition to an adult life with responsibilities and uncertainties, many crises come together. Added to that are performance pressure, choice stress and the perfect picture via social media.
Jurjen Daemen recorded this video for the NOBCO new year's reception of 13 January 2023, where MIND us of Queen Máxima was also present. The organisation highlights the vulnerability of young people and young adults.
The NOBCO does not, incidentally, reimburse for this.* The affiliated coaches do this at the rate of € 10 per hour including VAT.
Thank you Geeske te Gussinklo for guiding the campaign on behalf of the Dutch Order of Professional Coaches (NOBCO).
